After weeks of rumours, the UFC have finally confirmed that Conor McGregor will get his rematch with Nate Diaz at the historic UFC 200 event.
Just this month, Nate Diaz became the first man to beat McGregor in the Octagon at UFC 196 after two rounds, but the outspoken Irishman immediately vowed to be back.
And after the announcement on Wednesday it looks like he has got his wish on McGregor v Diaz II.
According to President Dana White, McGregor has been ‘obsessed’ with fighting Diaz since his moral beating loss. He said:
“After the fight, I went up to Conor’s house that he was renting here in Las Vegas and started talking about, ‘what are you thinking, what’s next?’ And he was obsessed,”
White claims he tried convincing McGregor to rethink. Even the Irishman’s trainer tried but neither could stop The Notorious from getting his way.
The fight will be contested at 170lbs, the same as the previous fight and is among a stellar line-up of fights.
With a potential women’s Bantamweight fight to be added, the current card looks like this:
- Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz
- Jose Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar – for interim featherweight title
- Travis Browne vs. Cain Velasquez
- Derek Brunson vs. Gegard Mousasi
- Joe Lauzon vs. Diego Sanchez
