New UFC Bantamweight champion Miesha Tate has been handed her first opportunity to defend her title, at UFC 200.

Tate, who beat Holly Holm last month, will make her defense against Amanda Nunes at the historic event on July 9.

Many expected Tate to announce a rematch with Holm or her arch rival Ronda Rousey, but the UFC and Tate have decided to give the Brazilian a chance.

Nunes, who is 12-4 in her MMA career, has won five of her six UFC fights and will be a tough opponent.

The fight is added to an already stellar line-up, which included Conor McGregor’s rematch with Nate Diaz.
