After a horrific showing at World Cup 2014 – where they failed to even get out of their group – the reigning European Champions breezed through qualifying, winning nine of their ten matches.

Spain have a very strong spine, with either Casillas or De Gea in goal, Pique and Ramos in defence, and Busquets and Iniesta running the midfield. Expect them to do well.

The Three Lions come into the tournament with the youngest squad. The old guard of Lampard, Gerrard, Cole et al, have been replaced with the likes of Dele Alli, Eric Dier and Nathaniel Clyne.

Although still in the squad, captain Wayne Rooney has fallen behind 22 year old Tottenham Hotspur striker, Harry Kane.

There is much optimism in the English ranks.
