5. Rush Limbaugh’s Racist Rant
Limbaugh had a brief career as a pro football commentator in 2003, however after only a few weeks into the job and half way through the NFL season he was forced to resign. Limbaugh made headlines after suggesting one particular player was only getting coverage due to the colour of his skin. He infamously said: “I don’t think he’s been that good from the get-go. I think what we’ve had here is a little social concern in the NFL. I think the media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. They’re interested in black coaches and black quarterbacks doing well. I think there’s a little hope invested in McNabb and he got a lot of credit for the performance of his team that he really didn’t deserve. The defense carried this team.”
6. Harold Reynold’s Harassment Case
In 2006, Harold was fired from ESPN. When a spokesperson confirmed his departure, there was no reason given – however it was later reported that it was a pattern of sexual harassment. However Reynold’s said the incident was a complete misunderstanding, “I gave a woman a hug and I felt like it was misinterpreted.” He has since taken ESPN to court after trying to sort out the misunderstanding behind closed doors; however ESPN later settled the case outside of court, with Reynold gaining a seven figure settlement.
