Mark Blount: invested in sweet treats
Blount thanks basketball for being such a humbling teacher and is very grateful for his time on the court, but the retired ball player had to find another way to make money after his career came to an end. Yet, did you ever expect his next career move to involve pretzels? Blount is now the proud owner of two Auntie Anne’s pretzel franchises in South Florida, and he isn’t the only famous b-ball player to do so – Shaquille O’Neal also has a franchise.
Detlef Schrempf: swapped balls for business
Schrempf has had an impressive career on and off the court, earning more than $30 million dollars and setting several records during his time playing basketball. He graduated from University of Washington with a degree in International Business, and so it seemed natural to move from the Seattle Supersonics and Chicago Bulls to Capital Management as the business development officer. He’s also managed to land a role on NBC’s sitcom Parks and Recreation where he has the easy role of playing himself.
