When Arizona instituted an incredibly controversial anti-illegal-immigration law that was widely seen as institutional racial profiling, the Suns decided to show their solidarity with the Latino community. They wore “Los Suns” jerseys during the second game of the 2010 Western Conference Finals.
4. Carlos Delgado Won’t Stand
Colin Kaepernick isn’t the only athlete who’s refused to stand for patriotic songs. During the 2004 season, Carlos Delgado of the Toronto Blue Jays refused to stand during the 7th inning stretch for “God Bless America” in protest of the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars.
