It’s been five years since Paralympian Brad Snyder lost his eye sight whilst fighting in Afghanistan, but now the swimmer is about to take on the Rio Paralympics 2016.

When he was a naval lieutenant, Brad stepped on an explosive device whilst trying to help out victims of the bombings. Since then, he’s managed to turn his injury into something positive and become a gold medalist in the water.

Brad completed it in 2007, with the challenge consisting of an Ironman distance race near Orlando, Florida.

When no other Division One swimming program recruited him, Snyder went to the US Naval Academy.
