The biennial battle between USA and Europe known as the Ryder Cup has had numerous historical moments.

This year we’re heading to the three-day event at Hazeltine National in Minnesota to watch the best golfers play for the Ryder Cup win.

While the men open the 2016 Ryder Cup off with foursomes, lets take a look back at the most iconic moments from previous year’s Ryder Cups.

Making history

We couldn’t write an article on the greatest Ryder Cup moments without mentioning the Miracle at Medinah. Many people consider this as the most dramatic final day in it’s history – as Europe were four points down heading into the singles, but fought back and won the session 8.5-3.5 to win the match 14.5-13.5.

Thanking the heavens

Clarke has lost his loving wife Heather just months before he played a match. While you might think he’d be off his game, Clarke stormed in, winning three of his matches as Europe won by nine. He later defeated Zach Johnson in the singles on Sunday, raised his arms in the air with tears running down his cheeks and gazed up to the sky in tribute of his late wife.
