The rope was similar to that of a shoelace, but slightly more elasticated. The deer were far too big to carry, and the men were worried about frightening them any more than they already were, as this may cause injuries. This meant that putting the deer inside the hovercraft wasn’t going to work.
The men decided the best idea would be to attach the rope to the rear of the hovercraft, and then attach the other end to the deer one at a time. This would enable them to slowly drag the deer across the ice to safety. However, they would have to drive incredibly slowly, so the deer would slide smoothly across the surface.
