It’s a job most football fans can only dream of – first team coach at the club you support.

But when one tongue-in-cheek fan applied for the top job at Liverpool Football Club, he almost made that dream a reality.

Following the dismissal of Brendan Rogers last week, lifelong Liverpool fanatic Adam Kneale submitted a speculative application for the vacant position of first team manager at the Merseyside team.

Not surprisingly, he didn’t get the job; however, the rejection letter he received from the club did include some constructive feedback.

The letter, which Adam posted on Facebook, read: “Thank you for your recent enquiry in relation to the current vacant position as First Team Manager at Liverpool Football Club.

“Unfortunately, we re unable to process your interest at this time as we are looking or someone with more experience in the professional game.

“In relation to the experience that you have provided; taking Portsmouth Football Club from the 2nd division and going on to win the Premier League and Champions League in four seasons on FIFA 15, is not the required standard of experience we are looking for at this time.

“However, we thank you for you for your interest and look forward to hearing from you in the future.”

Despite being rejected for the dream job, Adam may take some solace in the announcement that former Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has been appointed as the new Liverpool manager.
