Italy has seen off competition from Austria, Germany and Spain to host the Ryder Cup competition for the very first time.
The Marco Simone will host the 44th edition of the competition in 2022.
Located 10 miles from Rome, the course is set to be reconstructed to meet the standards of the tournament.
Italy is only the sixth European country to host the tournament, with England being the most popular.
With it’s luscious greens and beautiful blue skies, the Marco Simone is an idyllic setting for the Ryder Cup.
