Former Newcastle goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek is in a critical condition in hospital after suffering cardiac arrest in the Czech Republic.

Srnicek who retired in 2007 is reported to have collapsed while jogging in Ostrava.


The 47 year old was a fan favourite at St. James Park after arriving in 1991.

He made 150 appearances for the Magpies in his seven years with the club, and helped Newcastle to promotion in 1993.


The goalkeeper who also made 49 appearance for his country, had spells at West Ham, Sheffield Wednesday and Portsmouth.

The Czech is in a critical condition in hospital and is still unconscious following his collapse on Sunday.
