Gender quality is always a hot topic, no more so in sport.

Thankfully women are starting to gain a lot more attention in sport, with increased media coverage, equal prize money and job opportunities.

1. Beth Mowins, Announcer


In 2005, Beth Mowins became the second female play-by-play announcer to call NFL exhibition games.

She also covered the Women’s World Cup for ESPN in 2011.

2. Sarah Thomas, NFL official


On April 8, 2015, Sarah Thomas became the first full-time female official in NFL history.

She officiated a match between Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans.
