Controversial England defender Ashley Cole has joined Major League Soccer’s LA Galaxy.

Cole, 35, joins the MLS giants after his contract with AS Roma was prematurely terminated.

The former Chelsea and Arsenal left-back will be hoping for a fresh start in the States after a miserable last few years.

Despite being capped by his country 107 times, Cole’s career has been shrouded in controversy off the pitch.

From extra marital affairs to shooting a work experience student with an air rifle, he seems to be involved in it all.

Galaxy Head Coach, Bruce Arena said: “Ashley is one of the world’s most successful defenders and has played at the highest level of competition throughout his career.”

“He can provide our defence with valuable experience. We look forward to his contribution to our club this season.”

The LA Galaxy Twitter account officially welcomed Cole on Wednesday afternoon.
